Common Types Of Perfumes

One of the most difficult things is to find the fragrance that suits you. Each type of perfume consists of a different composition of aromatic compounds and each would react differently on different kind of skins. Therefore, here is a basic classification of different types of perfumes, where you can start.

Balm

Balms are usually compressed form of perfumes that consist about one to five percent of aromatic compounds in its composition. It is travel-friendly and lasts longer than other types of perfumes because it is neither light nor heat sensitive. It offers one of the best ways to smear the perfume in the public as it is discreet.

However, the smell of the actual perfume is altered in the processes of making it a balm. Moreover, it is not ideal, because the fun of using perfumes is the spraying process, the balms detract it.

Eau De Cologne

It is considered as a lightweight type of perfume as it contains only three to five percent of aromatic compounds. It is commonly found in men’s perfume and a small amount in women’s fragrance.

These kind perfumes are easy to apply. It should be applied on the neck, wrists, and ankles.

Eau De Toilette

It contains about five to fifteen percent of aromatic compounds, which makes it bulkier than Eau De Cologne. It is usually applied on the neck, wrist, and ankle.

On average, the perfume has to be reapplied every 4 hours once. The lasting time of the fragrances, vary from person to person, depending on the nature of the skin and hormones.

Eau De Parfum

This type of perfume consists of about ten to twenty percent of aromatic compounds, which is the common kind of perfume that could be found in the market.

It lasts about six to eight hours. Occasionally, the scent changes after 4 hours making it a completely new scent. For example, Zadig & Voltaire contains sandalwood and white cream. However, only after wearing it for four hours, the smell whipped white cream would be perceived. It is usually applied with three squirts, on the neck and the wrists.

Parfum

Analyzing the perfume samples of Parfum would reveal that it is composed of twenty to forty percent of aromatic compounds. It is often offered in little bottles and expensive, portrayed as a luxury to apply them.

Usually, it is applied behind the ears and wrists, which would last a whole day.
