It is a cold winter morning in Kolkata, and the dogs in our colony have been less of a nuisance and more of those cute, friendly, angelic creatures who do not stop following you while you are out on the road and they never, ever seem to be a nuisance of any sort, rather you feel comfortable and loving while any form of interaction with these animals. More often than not, animals other than human beings or “homo sapiens” are our source of comfort and energy, they are the ones that truly love us and if you love them, they happen to become the most loyal creatures ever and remain so. Some people are of the opinion that this goes more for dogs, in general. There have been several stories since the ancient times which prove a dog’s loyalty and one of the most notable of these stories is “His Master’s Voice”, and it is in fact, incredibly heart-touching.
It is the season when the female dogs give birth to puppies as well, and there is one right in front of the doorstep in our apartment where there is a dog which has given birth to some five puppies and they are incredibly small, not capable of walking yet, and some do not even have their eyes completely developed either. There is an old lady living next door to us, and she takes good care of the dogs, and it is a lucrative pastime she indulges in, it is in fact very delightful and definitely very fulfilling for her to indulge in all sorts of social service these days, as she herself says. It also helps her keep loneliness at bay, ever since her husband passed away. She provides the dogs food, water and even few blankets and cotton sheets for the winter and for me, it is indeed a very humane act on her part because most people are oblivious to the fact that dogs need a certain amount of basic care and comfort in winters- it is indispensable for them, and this includes dog cbd as well.
