Surrogacy Not Allowed For Gay Couples In The Ukraine

The option for surrogacy Ukraine offers has been a big blessing for those couples who are unable to have children. For hundreds of years, the only option for couples who were unable to have children was to adopt, but the advent of in vitro fertilization and surrogacy changed the world for these couples forever.

This procedure has not just become available for couples however. The process has allowed single men and women to have babies as well, who would have had to start some form of relationship to have had children otherwise.

This is especially true in the situation of gay men who are either single or in same sex couple relationships. They are not only disinterested in being with a woman but, in the case of those in committed relationships, in vitro fertilization has allowed those couples to be able to have children without using adoption as their only means. Now they can have a child that has the genetic material of at least one of the men, giving them a feeling of being more fully involved in the child birth process.

Not Allowed in the Ukraine

For gay men to have children, they simply supply their sperm to a woman who is willing to supply her eggs, and then find a surrogate who can take the embryo to full term. In many instances, they are able to find a woman who can supply both, making the process a whole lot simpler.

For men, this has become a great situation but not every country will allow its agencies to supply surrogacy for gay couples. Ukraine is one of those which will only cater to heterosexual married couples.

The reasons are clear. The law was written so that the both the man and the woman would supply their genetic material – the sperm and the egg. It was intended that the process in the Ukraine would occur only when the woman would be unable to carry the baby to full term or, in the unusual case where a woman in unable to produce her own eggs, then a surrogate can provide the egg as well.

Two men cannot provide an egg, which is why the law excludes homosexual couples from being able to use the surrogate agencies in the Ukraine. It is really not about discrimination as much as it is about both parents being involved in the fertilization.
